In the United States, an estimated 1.23 million deer-related accidents occurred in a one-year period ending in June 2012. The state with the highest number of deer-vehicle collisions is Pennsylvania, with an estimated 115,000 collisions in 2013 causing $400 million in damage. West Virginia is the state with the highest risk that a motorist will hit a deer while driving. Currently, there is no effective way to prevent such tragic and costly occurrences.
At The Pennington School, I am working on an APP that will help decrease deer collisions by alerting the deers. Our APP will link robotics, technology, animal welfare, and sensors, and we will create a safe place for two and four-leggeds.‘How Deer You’ to stop the needless deaths of animals
Could I solve this problem with a singular app? This app will be an interactive platform for animal lovers. It will be a warning system for drivers all around the world. This app will function like google maps and it will have the perks of saving wildlife. There will be a button at the bottom of the app that you can press whenever you see any wildlife. This app will then alert people driving in that area to go slow. Over time this app will track the hotspots of the wildlife, and alert you when you are driving through those hotspots.
